Hope you’re all ready and excited to start your spooky celebrations extra early this month 😉 We haven’t had the opportunity to celebrate a Friday the 13th in October since 2006, so we really must make the most of it!

Since when are you the expert on such a creepy and superstitious occasion? Good question… It just so happens that October 13th is my birthday and everyone knows that when the 13th falls on a Friday in October, we’re in for a spooky treat 🙂

I absolutely love throwing parties and hosting my friends, so of course, I took the opportunity to plan a Friday the 13th-themed birthday party complete with a spooky-signature drink, scary snacks, and creepy decorations. I’ve had the best time preparing for the party for weeks and am so excited to celebrate tonight! Be sure to follow along on my Instagram stories for all of the fun!

Friday the 13th and parties aside, I have been filled with so much joy, gratitude, and general excitement this week. Thinking back on this past year and reflecting on my life has reminded me of all the wonderful things I’ve experienced and how truly blessed I am.

In the past year, I moved into an apartment that already feels like home, in a neighborhood I love, with a roommate who could not be a more fantastic person and friend. I started a new job at an agency that three years ago, I only dreamed about working for. I grew friendships that have come to mean so much to me and strengthened and maintained relationships with my family, incredible boyfriend, and old friends. This year I was even hit by a car and walked away without any injuries or trauma! (#blessed)

So much has changed, yet so much has remained the same. I’ve learned and I’ve grown, but I’ve also made plenty of mistakes. I’ve cried a lot, but I’ve laughed a heck of a lot more. I’ve been disappointed and angry with myself, but I’ve done more to make myself proud.

It might be vain and selfish for one to love celebrating her birthday as much as I do, but when I think about it…how could I not want to celebrate? I’m surrounded by the most amazing people, I live in the most exciting city in the entire world, I’m working my dream job, and the best part? I’m only 24, which means the best is yet to come 🙂

Thanks for reading and for the love.
